Well, women should be going to the gyno once or twice a year as is... so you might as well have them run an STD screen each time, even if it's nerve racking. And by that reasoning, since men don't have the equivalent of a gyno (why not, by the way?) maybe it could be a standard thing to have them get tested once or twice a year as well. Finding out your boyfriend cheated on you sucks, but... finding out your boyfriend cheated on you and now you have herpes sucks MORE.

I definitely think it's necessary to get tested no matter what kind of relationship you're in. I had a casual relationship with a guy once and I got HPV. Luckily, it got rid of itself and it wasn't the cervical cancer type, but it's still horribly embarassing and scary.
