Since someone asked me this question on my formspring, I thought I'd ask you...

What are your thoughts on fashion bloggers becoming "celebrities"?

In some cases the fame that comes to fashion bloggers is well-deserved because their personal style is so different and inspiring, or their photography is impeccable. I don't begrudge them the success that they enjoy, but sometimes I feel like the fashion bloggers' fame game is a bit like a high school popularity contest: some of the most famous ones have access to designer clothes and accessories that a lot of mere mortals can only dream of or are so thin and pretty they might as well be models. It's a little dismaying when there are blogs with compelling writing or great style that aren't getting as much attention as the celebrity fashion bloggers because the blogger is "more ordinary." Also, the celeb fashion blogger phenomenon could mislead newbie bloggers into starting blogs so they can get famous or self-promote--always a dubious reason to start a venture.

i agree with the above comment. some deserve it and some need to go away. also, when did dressing like a hooker become fashionable?

I think as long as you have a fan base, anyone can be a celebrity.

More power to a fashion blogger if they become a celebrity.

Not everyone is going to like them anyway or agree with their fashion sense.

I think the term celebrity has to remain in its traditional sense. Fashion bloggers that are receiving the most attention in the press, obviously have done somethings well to deserve it and I think that is all fabulous since its creativity that is being contributed. I would prefer naming such as Influencers and Tastemakers though. Wish we could leave Celebrity out of it.

I think that some fashion bloggers in their attempt to become so-called celebrity bloggers have pushed the envelopes when it comes to their LOTD (look of the day)...but like in a bad way. I am all for being creative and evolving as fashionable beings but some of their outfits are just bad. They think if they threw a bunch of non-matching pieces together, wear really big platform shoes, pile on the bangles and the rings that this equals high fashion. I think they look like a mental patient that just got released from the psych ward wearing all their belongings.

I have no problem with it. I think it's great that they are getting recognition.
